La Garderie Arc-en-ciel inc. promotes and develops the French culture and language by providing a safe and secure environment where children can flourish.  Every effort is made to provide a family-like environment to promote the social, intellectual, physical, emotional, and moral development of each child in an educational setting outside of the family.

All children bring gifts, and have the right to be valued, accepted and included.  We embrace inclusion and celebrate diversity as the means to foster the well being of every child and thereby enrich our communities.  All are entitled to full participation, access and support to meet their individual needs using a strength based, family centered approach, whereby we all learn from each other.  We will make every effort to accommodate children with additional support needs, to give all children the opportunity to develop physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually to their fullest potentials.  Our staff of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and Child Care Assistants(CCAs) is prepared to help your child in this development in cooperation with you, the parent/guardian and caregiver.

Our program reflects our philosophy.  All programming at La Garderie is in the French  language.  We believe that children develop according to nature and they are motivated through their own curiosity.  We believe that children learn through play and set up our daily routines according to the children’s needs.  We also believe that the inclusion of all children is important.  La Garderie is divided up into four groups.  Each group has a special name, which are as follows:
  • Cocon, 12 weeks – 2 years
  • Zoo, 2 years –6 years
  • Igloo, 6 years– 12 years
  • La petit Montagne, 3 years and four years (nursery school)

During the day each group is divided up into their own rooms and the door to each room is labelled.  Every morning before 8:30a.m. and in the afternoon after 3:30, all the children are combined either outside or in the Cocon room which is located upstairs.

Each room is set up to encourage a warm, homey environment where the children can feel safe and secure.  In each room various play centres are set up to meet the needs of children’s development.
As part of our program at La Garderie, we believe in helping the children develop their independence; therefore, we encourage the children to learn self-help skills.  We do this by encouraging the children to dress themselves, work through difficult situations to find a solution on their own, etc.  We provide children with the vocabulary and help they need along the way.

La Garderie is fortunate to have a big backyard with a lot of different activities set up for the children.  This means that the children go outside everyday, twice a day with the exception of heavy rain or +30 C or –25 C to the discretion of the director.  We ask parents/guardians to dress the children appropriate for the weather with the thought that we go outside everyday.

Parents/guardians have the right to apply to Manitoba Child Daycare for Subsidy.  Be advised that applying for subsidy can take several weeks, and you are responsible to pay for the full fees until you receive approval from Childcare subsidy.  Here is the Manitoba Child Daycare website:  Here is a subsidy tip: Do not rely on the subsidy estimator because it isn’t always accurate.

Parents/guardians are responsible to re-apply for subsidy when it expires.
